‘Sunday in the Park with George’ Revival to Proceed Without Ariana Grande

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the producers of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine musical Sunday in the Park with George have announced that the upcoming London revival will proceed without Ariana Grande.
The Wicked star announced late last week that she will step back from public life and media appearances following the conclusion of her concert tour on September 1, citing “relentless public exposure and scrutiny.”
In an official statement, Empire Street Productions confirmed: “Following the announcement from Ariana Grande’s team, we confirm that she has chosen to step away from the production of Sunday in the Park with George. We know this was not an easy decision and she leaves with our complete support and understanding. We wish her all the best. The production will proceed as planned at the Barbican Centre in summer 2027, and further casting announcements will be made in due course.”
Grande and Jonathan Bailey, who co-star in the film adaptation of Wicked, were previously slated to reunite on stage in the production directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Marianne Elliott. Bailey remains attached to the project.
A statement released by Grande’s team added: “Ariana will take a step back from public life upon the completion of her tour. She looks forward to finishing the tour in good health and high spirits before taking a well-deserved break from press and public appearances. The tour has brought her immense joy and she loves her fans dearly.”
