Four New Faces Join CBS’s “60 Minutes” Following Major Executive Changes

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Ross Douthat (conservative New York Times columnist), Sebastian Junger (author and documentarian), Trevor Phillips (British journalist and former politician), and Isobel Yeung / Gianna Toboni (documentarian) have joined the veteran analytical program “60 Minutes” on America’s CBS network as new correspondents.

This decision comes in the wake of fundamental shifts within Paramount Skydance’s news division and executive changes led by Bari Weiss, the new Editor-in-Chief of CBS News. Nick Bilton, the show’s new executive producer, stated that the goal of this overhaul is to attract a modern audience and a new generation of viewers. These changes follow the departure of several long-time figures and correspondents of the show, including Anderson Cooper, Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, and Cecilia Vega. The four newcomers now join three veteran correspondents—Lesley Stahl, Jon Wertheim, and Bill Whitaker—to form the program’s new lineup.

As “60 Minutes”—one of the most-watched and profitable news programs on American television—heads into its 59th season in September, it faces challenges such as declining staff morale and recent political and legal controversies. Nevertheless, new management hopes that bringing in these new correspondents, who possess extensive experience in documentaries, books, and digital media, will preserve the quality and credibility of this newsmagazine while expanding its audience reach.
