The revival will be helmed by Tony Award-winning director Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County, Eureka Day) and produced by David Binder (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Network). According to the production team, performances are scheduled to begin in February 2027 at a Shubert Organization theater to be announced.

About the Play and Its Broadway History

Three Days of Rain is a sharp, bittersweet drama structured around a family inheritance mystery. It explores what parents leave behind for their children and the hidden truths the next generation uncovers years later. The acclaimed work was a finalist for the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1998.

The play has historically served as a high-profile vehicle for major stage and screen talent:

  • Original Off-Broadway Premiere (1997): Starred Patricia Clarkson, John Slattery, and Bradley Whitford.
  • Broadway Premiere (2006): Starred Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd, and Bradley Cooper.

The New Cast and Their Roles

This upcoming staging will mark the official Broadway debuts for both François Arnaud and David Corenswet. Yvonne Strahovski previously made her Broadway debut in Lincoln Center Theater’s 2012 revival of Golden Boy.

  • François Arnaud (Pip / Theo): A graduate of the Conservatoire de d’art dramatique de Montréal, the Canadian actor possesses an extensive theatrical background in Canada. In addition to starring in The Heat, his recent film credits include Twinless and April.
  • David Corenswet (Walker / Ned): Corenswet achieved global recognition starring as Clark Kent in James Gunn’s Superman and is currently filming its sequel, The Man of Tomorrow. His upcoming film projects include Mr. Irrelevant, following past television roles in We Own This City and The Politician.
  • Yvonne Strahovski (Nan / Lina): The Emmy-nominated actress, widely acclaimed for her performance as Serena Joy Waterford in The Handmaid’s Tale, will soon appear in the second season of Bad Monkey opposite Vince Vaughn. Her film credits include The Tomorrow War.

A Tribute to the Late Playwright

In an official statement, director Anna D. Shapiro expressed her profound admiration for the piece:

“Three Days of Rain is truly one of the most beautiful plays I have ever encountered. Set in Richard Greenberg’s characteristically witty, complex, and deeply humorous world, it charts two generations of New York intellectuals grappling with the weight of family, the allure of art, and the absolute necessity of love.”

The upcoming revival serves as a poignant tribute to the legacy of Richard Greenberg. The celebrated playwright, best known for works including Take Me Out and The Assembled Parties, passed away last year following a battle with cancer.
