Musical Adaptation of “Benjamin Button” Announces New York Cast; Andrew Durand to Star in Title Role

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the stage musical adaptation of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will make its North American premiere this fall at The Public Theater in New York, starring Tony Award nominee Andrew Durand in the title role.
Previews are set to begin on October 8, with the official run scheduled from October 21 through November 15. The actor-musician ensemble includes Kelsey Kimmel (as Elowen Keene, Benjamin’s wife), Brittany Coleman, Trevor Lindley Craft, Brandon J. Ellis, Katie Horner, Sachiko Mae, Morgan Morse, Chris St-Louis, Clare-Frances Sullivan, and Matt Wolpe.
Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story, the narrative follows a man born elderly who ages in reverse. In this musical adaptation, the setting shifts to a fishing village on the British coast, chronicling the main character’s life from World War I through the late 20th century, performed by a cast of 15 actor-musicians.
The musical, which won the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2025, features a book by Jethro Compton and music and lyrics by Darren Clark and Compton. Compton will direct and design the set for the New York production, reprising his role from the West End run in London.
