According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Tyler Duckworth, a prominent reality TV personality known for appearing in six seasons of MTV’s hit franchise The Challenge and The Real World: Key West, has passed away in North Dakota at the age of 44.

His mother, Joni Duckworth, confirmed his passing in a Facebook post on Thursday, writing: “My son Tyler passed away earlier this week. The cause of death is not yet known. Once his father and I make final decisions, I will post the funeral and memorial details on Facebook.”

Duckworth first came into the spotlight in 2006 as a cast member on The Real World: Key West. He went on to compete in four flagship seasons of The ChallengeThe Duel, The Gauntlet III, Cutthroat, and Rivals—and later returned for two seasons of the spin-off series All Stars (All Stars 2 in 2021 and All Stars 3 in 2022). He took home the championship title on Cutthroat alongside teammates Brad Fiorenza, Dunbar Flinn, and Tori Fiorenza, and won again on Rivals partnered with Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio.

Bunim/Murray Productions said in an exclusive statement to Variety: “Tyler was truly a part of the Bunim/Murray family—a wonderful human being who was deeply beloved by fans and fellow Challenge cast members alike. He will be dearly missed by all of us, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who followed his competitive journey over the years.”

Executive producer Justin Booth also paid tribute, stating: “The Challenge family is shocked and saddened to hear about the sudden and unexpected passing of Tyler Duckworth. A young man who first entered our world as a witty, sensitive figure grew to become an unstoppable force, lifting the championship trophy twice. He will be deeply missed. We are heartbroken and express our profound condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, young man.”

Duckworth’s final public appearance took place on July 31 at a “Challenge Mania” fan event in Minneapolis, where he posted photos on Instagram alongside fellow franchise veterans including Rachel Robinson, Brad Fiorenza, Tina Barta, Paulie Calafiore, and Mark Long.

Following the news, many of his co-stars and friends expressed their shock and grief on social media. Tina Barta, who shared the screen with him across multiple seasons over two decades, shared a video together and wrote: “It’s hard to find the right words when someone who was a huge part of a major chapter in your life is suddenly gone. We shared a unique experience that very few people can truly understand—one that grew beyond a show or an adventure into friendship, history, and family. How fortunate I was to get that surprise visit at Challenge Mania to hug and kiss you one last time. Love you.”
