Oliver Stone Pays Tribute to Late Longtime Producer; Moritz Borman Dies at 71
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker Oliver Stone has issued a heartfelt condolence message paying tribute to his longtime producer and collaborator, Moritz Borman, who passed away on July 1 at the age of 71.
Throughout his distinguished career, Borman produced some of Stone’s most notable features, including Alexander, Savages, W., World Trade Center, and Snowden. Beyond his extensive collaborations with Stone, Borman’s impressive producing credits include blockbuster and critically acclaimed titles such as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, The Quiet American, Under the Volcano, and The Crow: Salvation.
Oliver Stone Reacts to the Passing of His Longtime Collaborator
In an official statement honoring the late producer, Oliver Stone said:
“Moritz Borman was instrumental and key to making Alexander in 2004. He later went on to produce World Trade Center, followed by W., Savages, and finally Snowden for us. He was a close, personal friend and a great producer who rarely sought the spotlight for his artistry and skill. He will be deeply missed. He slipped away without telling anyone, catching us all by surprise—a patient, stoic man to the very end. I loved and admired him greatly.”
Borman passed away from natural causes in Munich, where he was actively working on an upcoming, untitled Netflix feature directed by John Lee Hancock.
Oliver Stone’s Latest Cinematic Venture: White Lies
Oliver Stone is currently directing his first narrative feature film since Snowden, titled White Lies. Written and directed by Stone, the upcoming film features a star-studded cast including Josh Hartnett, Michael Douglas, Willem Dafoe, Leila George, and Ellen Barkin.
Spanning three generations, White Lies follows Jack Freeman (played by Josh Hartnett), a child of divorce who finds himself repeating his parents’ mistakes in his own marriage and with his own children. Feeling trapped in a stalemate, Jack embarks on a journey to escape his circumstances, only to find himself more lost than before. His path takes an unexpected turn toward self-discovery when he crosses paths with a woman whose life is the polar opposite of his own. The screenplay explores deep themes of family, loss, trauma, and the evolving nature of love over a lifetime.
