Oscar Contender “House of Hope” Secures North American Distributor

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Toronto-based film distribution company New Mountain Films has acquired the North American theatrical and streaming rights to Marjoleine Boonstra’s acclaimed documentary, House of Hope. The documentary centers on a pacifist Waldorf school located in the occupied West Bank.
Directed by Marjoleine Boonstra in collaboration with Palestinian filmmakers (including Dutch-Palestinian cinematographer Abu Mosaab), the film follows the lives of Manar and Milad, a couple running a pacifist elementary school in the town of Al-Eizariya on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Operating under the strain of illegal settlements, the couple strives to preserve innocence and hope for the future among their students amid escalating regional conflict.
House of Hope made its world premiere at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and went on to win the Best International Feature Documentary award at Toronto’s Hot Docs Festival. Securing this award has qualified the documentary to officially compete in the Best Documentary Feature category at the 99th Academy Awards.
According to current plans, New Mountain Films will release the 91-minute documentary in select North American theaters in mid-October 2026, followed by a release on its dedicated streaming platform.
