Majid Majidi Reacts to the Silence of Al-Azhar Scholars in Egypt

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Majid Majidi, the film director, responded to the silence of Al-Azhar scholars in Egypt, writing:

*”As an artist of the Islamic world, I do not expect anything from scholars and clerics whose livelihood comes from the courts of oil-rich rulers. However, I am disappointed and outraged by the scholars and professors of Al-Azhar University in Egypt, whose name is derived from Lady Fatimah Zahra (peace be upon her), and which was once the source of the final word for Sunni Muslims worldwide, with unity and solidarity among all Muslims as its goal and motto. How can they witness the aggressions and bloodshed of the usurping Israeli regime against a Muslim country and its people and remain silent?

How can they see the brutal attacks of imperialist America, the slaughter of hundreds of helpless children, men, and women, and yet sit quietly, sometimes even defending the Abū Jahl of our time instead of supporting the oppressed? Please tell us if they have information that there will be no Day of Judgment and that one day they will not stand accountable before God, the Prophet, and Lady Fatimah.”*
