According to the CinemaDrame news agency, Sam Neill, the well-known actor from the Jurassic Park franchise, has announced that after nearly five years of battling stage 3 blood cancer, there is now no trace of cancer left in his body.

Speaking about his treatment process, he said he lived with a rare type of lymphoma for around five years and underwent chemotherapy during that time. Neill explained that the treatment was extremely difficult and exhausting, but at the same time it was what kept him alive.

The actor, best known for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park series, said that at one point chemotherapy stopped working and his condition became critical. He described feeling completely disoriented and as if he was on the verge of death.

Neill said that after receiving an advanced treatment in which blood cells are genetically modified, he is now cancer-free. He stated that he recently had a new scan showing no signs of cancer in his body, calling the result “extraordinary and exciting.”

The actor also announced that he plans to return to cinema, saying it is now time for him to act in another film.

Sam Neill is currently an advocate for expanding CAR T-cell therapy in Australia, a treatment method that is still only available in clinical trials in the country.

He first spoke publicly about his illness in 2023. His cancer was diagnosed the year before, during promotional work for Jurassic World: Dominion, when he initially experienced symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes. In that film, Neill reprised his role as Alan Grant alongside Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, and also appeared with newer cast members of the franchise, including Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
