“The Flowervale Street” Leads Global Box Office Amid Fierce Weekend Competition

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, The feature film The Flowervale Street, a co-production of Warner Bros. and Bad Robot, grossed $2.5 million in Thursday night previews at North American theaters. The film’s total global earnings have reached $6.5 million so far, largely driven by opening releases in Italy and France. Forecasts indicate that the film’s overall global box office will land in the $38 million to $48 million range, with international performance expected to be significantly stronger than its domestic run in the U.S.
The domestic preview earnings for The Flowervale Street align closely with the pre-pandemic performance of Rampage and come in slightly below the family title Blue Beetle. However, its preview sales topped the sci-fi flick The Creator ($1.6 million previews, $14 million opening) and matched the sci-fi feature Mickey 17 ($2.5 million previews, $19 million opening).
Meanwhile, the animated feature PAW Patrol: The Dinosaur Movie, co-produced by Paramount and Spin Master, earned $1.9 million in domestic previews across 2,800 theaters. Having launched last week in 22 international markets—including Brazil, Mexico, and South Korea—the animated film has brought its worldwide total to $34.4 million. Domestic projections for the weekend range from $15 million to $19 million. Its predecessor, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023), did not hold Thursday previews but earned $6.8 million on its opening Friday and $22.7 million over its three-day opening weekend.
On the other hand, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, co-produced by Sony and Marvel Studios, capped its second week in theaters with a weekly gross of $205.7 million, bringing its total U.S. domestic box office to $715.8 million. The film’s second-week performance surpassed Avengers: Endgame ($186.5 million) while trailing behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($261.1 million).

While the current weekend remains dominated by the success of Spider-Man: A Brand New Day, The Flowervale Street represents a new hope at the box office. Rated PG-13 and launching showtimes at 1:00 PM across 3,200 theaters, the film was projected to surpass $2 million in Thursday night previews. Featuring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, its primary audience is expected to consist of women, mothers, and fans of the lead stars.
David Robert Mitchell, director of It Follows, wrote, directed, and produced The Flowervale Street. The story follows a neighborhood that suddenly finds itself adjacent to a prehistoric jungle inhabited by dinosaurs. Sharing IMAX screens with The Odyssey and premium large formats with Spider-Man, the film is targeting a domestic box office range of $18 million to $23 million and an international gross of $20 million to $25 million across 74 territories. It opens on 24,000 screens in countries including France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, the UK, China, and Japan. The production budget is estimated between $80 million and $92 million, with a critical approval rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to these releases, PAW Patrol: The Dinosaur Movie in 3,545 theaters and Angel Studios’ The Brink of War in 2,083 theaters have launched their wide domestic rollouts in North America. According to estimates, Spider-Man: A Brand New Day is projected to earn between $57 million and $72 million during its third weekend in theaters.
