Nicole Kidman joins Margo’s Got Money Troubles as wrestling lawyer “Lace”: from the ring to the courtroom

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the latest episode of Margo’s Got Money Troubles delivered a major surprise with the introduction of the character “Lace,” played by Nicole Kidman. The role, which does not appear in Rufi Thorpe’s original novel, becomes a key narrative turning point in episode four, titled “Buddies.”

Lace, formerly part of the wrestling duo “Leather & Lace,” now works as a lawyer. She meets Jinx (Nick Offerman) during a wrestling fan convention, where he is attending with Margo (Elle Fanning).

Showrunner David E. Kelley commented on Kidman’s casting: “I jokingly said we just wanted to help poor Nicole find some work and advance her career! She’s a lawyer-wrestler—I thought she’d say that’s too much, but she embraced it completely.”

Kelley added: “She even asked if she could actually wrestle in the ring—and she was incredible. She was completely believable both as a wrestler and as a lawyer. That’s why she gets all these opportunities; she’s just phenomenal at what she does.”

Executive producer Eva Anderson also praised Kidman’s presence on set, saying: “The most fun we had was on the days Nicole was there, because she brought this wonderfully chaotic and entertaining energy with her.”

In one storyline sequence, Lace and Jinx perform a choreographed exhibition match for fans. Although staged, the performance reactivates an old injury for Jinx.

The encounter at the convention deeply affects Jinx. Previously disapproving of Margo’s work on OnlyFans, he gains a new perspective after witnessing the wrestling performance, realizing that “we’re all just performing in our own way.”

Margo’s Got Money Troubles airs weekly on Wednesdays, and it remains to be seen how Kidman’s multifaceted character will further influence Margo’s development in upcoming episodes.
