Return of the Killer Doll: Don Mancini Hints at New “Chucky” Film After Series Ends in 2024

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, nearly two years after the TV series ended, Don Mancini is now preparing to bring Chucky back from the dead once again, taking the character into a new phase.
The creator of the Child’s Play franchise recently announced at an event in Pennsylvania that he is working on a new Chucky film—one that will serve as a continuation of the 2017 film Cult of Chucky as well as the TV series that aired between 2021 and 2024.
Mancini told attendees that he is currently writing the new Chucky movie and also intends to direct the sequel himself.
Jennifer Tilly, who plays the killer doll Tiffany in the franchise, previously stated that despite the series ending, the characters’ storylines will continue and more Chucky and Tiffany projects are on the way.
After the series was officially announced to be ending in September 2024 following three seasons, Mancini continued to hint at the character’s future. The cancellation came amid a fan campaign calling for the show’s renewal, and both he and the cast reacted to the decision.
In a message, he confirmed that Chucky would return and thanked fans for their support. He emphasized that their loyalty had been especially meaningful during a difficult time, while Chucky himself—characteristically—promised he would soon be seen again.
The cancellation came despite Mancini previously expressing excitement about ideas he had developed for a potential fourth season and pitching them to the network, though the continuation was ultimately not produced.
The Chucky series, which began in 2021, follows the bloody and terrifying journey of the infamous killer doll as he encounters old enemies, former allies, and new victims, spreading chaos and horror wherever he goes.
Mancini launched the franchise with the 1988 film Child’s Play and went on to write multiple sequels, including Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky. He also directed the final three entries in the franchise.
