Netflix Officially Titles New Cliff Booth Film Starring Brad Pitt
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the project bringing back Brad Pitt’s iconic Cliff Booth character has officially received its title from Netflix. The streaming platform announced on Wednesday that the new David Fincher feature, which continues the story established in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will be titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. The film is slated for an exclusive two-week worldwide IMAX theatrical run starting November 25, followed by its global streaming debut on Netflix on December 23.
Quentin Tarantino penned the screenplay for the feature. Alongside Brad Pitt, the ensemble cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Gerald, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karen Karagulian.
Brad Pitt reprises his role as stuntman Cliff Booth, a character first introduced in Sony Pictures’ 2019 blockbuster written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, which co-starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Western television star Rick Dalton. Pitt and Chane Chaaffin serve as producers on the new film.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is set in 1977—eight years after the events of the original film—and focuses on Cliff Booth navigating and confronting the dramatically altered landscape of Hollywood.
Netflix previously offered a first glimpse of the project via a short teaser during the Super Bowl in February. In the clip, Pitt remarks in character: “I don’t got a lot of talents, but I know enough not to get in the way of a good story.”
Quentin Tarantino previously addressed his decision not to direct the feature, explaining that he did not want his tenth and final film to be a sequel. Speaking on The Tarantino Church podcast last year, he stated: “I love this script, but directing it meant walking down a path I’d already trodden, and that dulled my enthusiasm.”
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood grossed $377 million worldwide and earned two Academy Awards from ten nominations, including Brad Pitt’s first acting Oscar. The film also served as a major launching pad for supporting cast members Mikey Madison, Austin Butler, Sydney Sweeney, and Margaret Qualley.
