Official Teaser Released for “Fjord”: Palme d’Or Winner by Cristian Mungiu Starring Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan Set for NEON Release

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, NEON has unveiled the official teaser for “Fjord,” directed by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, ahead of its U.S. theatrical release on October 9. The official poster for the film has also been released.

The film stars Renate Reinsve as a Norwegian woman who relocates with her devout Romanian husband, played by Sebastian Stan, and their five children to a remote, close-knit coastal town. Their teenage children quickly form a close bond with a neighboring family, but as this relationship deepens, unrest and tension begin to build around the family’s strict beliefs. When allegations of abuse surface, they are forced to confront an adjudicative system that blurs the line between genuine care and rigid dogmatism.

NEON acquired the distribution rights for the film across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand just ahead of its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film ultimately won the festival’s top prize, marking NEON’s seventh consecutive Palme d’Or victory.

Chief film critic Pete Hammond praised Cristian Mungiu for courageously tackling contemporary society’s most challenging and provocative issues without taking sides, writing: “‘Fjord’ is a brilliant, gripping film that finds its power in refusing to offer easy answers, instead raising fundamental questions about the very nature of right and wrong.”

Featuring compelling performances from Oscar nominee and award-season staple Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”) alongside Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”), “Fjord” is widely anticipated to be a major contender and topic of conversation in the upcoming awards season.
