Brian Cox Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2; The New York Ripper Revealed

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Brian Cox has joined the cast of the hit series “Dexter: Resurrection” for its second season, where he will portray the New York Ripper.
The character is a notorious killer who terrorized New York City years ago. Although he is no longer active, he maintains his dark legacy by continuing to haunt the survivors of his past crimes.
In the first season finale, it was revealed that Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) discovered the identity of the New York Ripper through a folder belonging to the previous season’s antagonist, Lyon Prater (Peter Dinklage). The folder was labeled “Don Frampt, The New York Ripper.” Dexter has kept these files in a bag—not as trophies, but as leads to track down the killers Prater was obsessed with.
The first season, helmed by Clyde Phillips, takes place a few weeks after Dexter was shot by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott). After waking from a coma and discovering his son has disappeared, Dexter heads to New York to find Harrison and seek redemption for the past.
The narrative thickens with the arrival of Angel Batista (David Zayas) from Miami Metro, who brings pressing questions about Dexter’s past. Ultimately, Dexter and his son realize that their only path to freedom is to confront their shared darkness together.
Alongside Michael C. Hall, the first season featured Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suárez, and James Remar. Notable guest appearances included Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian.
The first season is currently available for streaming on Paramount+ with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan.
Cox, a recipient of Emmy, Olivier, and Golden Globe awards, is widely recognized for his role in the series Succession and his portrayal of Hermann Göring in the film Nuremberg. His extensive credits include The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Boxer, Rushmore, Super Troopers, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Churchill, the Bourne trilogy, and The Electric State.
He recently made his directorial debut with the film Glenrothan, which is set to premiere in theaters across the UK and Ireland on April 17. Brian Cox is represented by Conway van Gelder Grant, Paradigm Talent Agency, and Insight Entertainment.
