According to the CinemaDrame news agency, Matthieu Blazy, the new creative director of Chanel, has praised Pascal as a “natural ally” for the fashion house, while the actor himself points to the gender-fluid nature of the collaboration: “In his world there is something for everyone.”

Pedro Pascal drew attention at last month’s Academy Awards, wearing a Chanel look designed by Matthieu Blazy. The outfit featured a white tuxedo shirt with a large silk-and-feather chrysanthemum brooch and black trousers. This appearance came after the highly in-demand star attended Blazy’s debut Chanel show in Paris for the spring collection from the front row (his sister, Lux, also appeared on stage during the show at the Grand Palais).

These appearances now take on new meaning, as Pascal has officially been named a Chanel ambassador. This is a rare move for Chanel, as the house does not produce menswear; however, some of its ready-to-wear pieces are genderless in nature and have previously been worn by major figures such as Pharrell Williams.

In announcing the news, Chanel praised Pascal for “continually challenging expectations, moving effortlessly across genres, and forging his own unique path,” also highlighting his charisma, sense of humor, and commitment to “bringing people together”—qualities that make him a “natural ally” for the brand.

Pascal himself referenced this gender-fluid vision in his statement. He said: “I love Matthieu’s vision; I find it powerful, delicate, and deeply warm. It shows me how we can coexist together. In his world, there is something for everyone. I am happy and proud to join, and I am excited to see what Matthieu has in mind for the future of Chanel. The house has an extraordinary ability to honor its heritage while remaining modern and relevant, and I am excited to be part of its evolving story.”

Matthieu Blazy also described Pascal as a “very kind man” and an “extraordinary actor.” He said: “His kindness, talent, and worldview are both inspiring and inviting. We are very happy to welcome him to the Chanel family, and I look forward to beginning this shared adventure.”

The news comes during a busy year for Pascal, who will soon appear in “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” as well as “Avengers: Doomsday.” He is also expected to attend CinemaCon this week in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace.
