Release of Official Images and Synopsis of Asghar Farhadi’s Film “Parallel Stories”

According to the CinemaDrame news agency, new images from the star-studded film “Parallel Stories,” the latest work by Asghar Farhadi, along with the film’s official storyline, have been released ahead of its unveiling at the Cannes Film Festival.

Farhadi’s new French-language film will have its world premiere in the main competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

The new film by the Iranian filmmaker has been made with leading figures of French cinema: Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney, and Adam Bessa, alongside Catherine Deneuve, one of the great figures of French cinema, who also has a remarkable presence in this film.

The latest images, along with the synopsis of “Parallel Stories,” have been released by the film’s distributor, Memento Pictures.

What is “Parallel Stories” about?

Silvi, in search of inspiration for his new novel, observes his neighbors across the street. When the man hires ‘Javanizele Netam Adam’ to help with his daily chores, unaware that he will turn his life and work upside down — to the point where the story he imagined surpasses their reality.

Previously, rumors had suggested that the film is about the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks.

Asghar Farhadi returns to France, 12 years after “The Past”

Filming of “Parallel Stories” took place in autumn 2025. Asghar Farhadi, the Iranian director whose last film “A Hero” won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, has once again directed a French-language film.

The distributor Memento Pictures notes: “This film marks Farhadi’s return to France after the film ‘The Past,’ starring Tahar Rahim and Bérénice Bejo; a film that won the Best Actress award at Cannes in 2013 and attracted one million viewers in French cinemas.”

Asghar Farhadi has twice won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film: for “A Separation” in 2012 and “The Salesman” in 2017. He also received the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for “The Salesman.”
