First Images from Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma Released
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Mubi has unveiled the first official image of Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. The film marks the latest project from Jane Schoenbrun following I Saw the TV Glow and We’re All Going to the World’s Fair.
The story follows a young filmmaker tasked with rebooting a slasher franchise after multiple sequels. When she reaches out to the former star of the series — now a mysterious woman — she finds herself drawn into a “bloody world of desire, fear, and illusion.”
The film’s ensemble cast also includes Arthur Conti, Amanda Fix, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Quintessa Swindell, Kevin McDonald, and Jack Haven.
Schoenbrun previously said: “My next film is entirely about sex — about learning to experience pleasure after transitioning. Before transitioning, I wasn’t without sexual desire — I had plenty of it — but a good relationship in the wrong body was impossible. What was possible was total dissociation from the self, which is clearly the subject of my first two films.”
Mubi will release Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma in U.S. theaters on August 7.
