Warm Welcome for Johnny Depp in Argentina Ahead of the Premiere of Modì

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Johnny Depp received a warm reception from fans last week in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 62-year-old actor recently traveled to the country for the release of his new film, Modì: Three Days on the Wing of Madness. The Pirates of the Caribbean star has been gradually returning to Hollywood a few years after winning his legal battle against his ex-wife Amber Heard, who had accused him of domestic violence.

Depp sat down last Tuesday with Verónica Lozano to discuss Modì, a film depicting the final days of Amedeo Modigliani’s life. In a video shared from his meeting with fans a day before hosting a masterclass, he said: “It’s truly admirable. I don’t know if anyone can ever get used to such a welcome. I will gladly and excitedly return to Buenos Aires to experience this place and watch the film. The culture, art, and architecture of this society are rich.”

In another interview with Infobae, Depp said he loves Argentina’s “culture, customs, and passion for the arts”: “Buenos Aires has a special energy. The kindness and warmth of the people are unique.”

He then headed to a cinema in the Argentine capital to attend the film’s premiere. There, another group of Depp fans—holding photos of the American actor—were waiting to get his autograph.

In part of his interview with Lozano, Depp said that putting on Jack Sparrow’s costume and visiting hospitals is a “blessing” for him: “I want to see the children and understand them. I’ve gone through challenges with my own kids; I know what it feels like. If there’s a chance to wear Jack’s costume in a children’s hospital and distract them, lift their spirits, and act silly—it helps a lot.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean producer previously confirmed that talks with Depp for the sixth installment of the franchise had taken place.
