29 Million Viewers for Frankenstein in Its First Week on Netflix

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Frankenstein reached the top of Netflix’s weekly movie rankings with 29 million viewers in its first three days. The latest film by Guillermo del Toro had previously been released for three weeks in a limited theatrical run.
The two-and-a-half-hour film, produced with a budget of over $120 million and rated R, now stands as the fifth most-watched English-language Netflix film of 2025. Del Toro’s stop-motion Pinocchio had recorded 13.8 million viewers.
In a statement to Deadline, del Toro described the audience response as “deeply meaningful,” adding that some people told him they had watched Frankenstein multiple times: “It’s a film that has been with me my entire life, and seeing it resonate so profoundly with audiences around the world is, for me, the true closing of a lifelong circle.”
Frankenstein currently ranks eighth on Gold Derby’s Oscars Best Picture predictions, placing above titles such as A House of Dynamite, Wake Up Dead Man, and Jay Kelly.
Back to Action, starring Cameron Diaz, leads Netflix’s most-watched films of 2025 with 46.8 million viewers, followed by Happy Gilmore 2 with 46.7 million, The Old Guard 2 with 37.5 million, and Havoc with 29 million viewers.
