Vince Gilligan: “Pluribus” Could Run for Up to Four Seasons

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Vince Gilligan confirmed in an interview with Variety that Season 2 of Pluribus has been greenlit by Apple TV+, and in another conversation with Screen Rant he revealed that the series could potentially continue through a fourth season. The latest project from the creator of Breaking Bad, starring Rhea Seehorn, recently premiered on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes.

Speaking to Variety about the show’s ending, Gilligan said:

“I think we have a very good idea of where the series ends. One of the most important things in the writers’ room is not to be too rigid about ideas. If we come up with a better ending, we’ll go with it.”

In his interview with Screen Rant, Gilligan added that the series could extend to a fourth season:

“I think we’ve got the broad roadmap for the show, but I don’t know exactly how long it should run. After the first season of Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, people would ask, ‘How many seasons do you think it’ll last?’ and I’d say maybe two or three. Then it turned out we had enough story for six, which was a pleasant surprise.”

Gilligan continued:

“Maybe Pluribus will go on for three seasons, but it could go beyond that. It’s hard to say.”

Pluribus is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and follows a writer — played by Rhea Seehorn — who survives a pandemic that wipes out the rest of humanity. The series also stars Karolina Wydra, known for House and True Blood. Seehorn previously worked with Gilligan on Better Call Saul.
