Emmys 2025 Viewership Rises 8% Compared to Last Year

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, this year’s Emmy Awards (Emmys 2025), broadcast Sunday night on CBS, drew 7.4 million viewers. That figure marks an 8% increase from the 6.9 million who watched last year’s ceremony on ABC, making the 77th Emmys the most-watched edition since 2021.
CBS has two reasons to be pleased with the numbers: not only the year-over-year growth, but also the fact that NBC, Fox, and ABC have failed to replicate the 2021 record, the last time CBS aired the Emmys.
The viewership figures, compiled by Nielsen across CBS and Paramount+, show that streaming audiences on Paramount+ have grown 76% compared to 2021.
The Emmys on Sunday night faced competition from NBC’s NFL game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings, though this matchup was less formidable than the January NFL playoffs that clashed with the Emmys in 2024. That year’s ceremony had been postponed from September to January due to the Hollywood strikes.
The ceremony, hosted by Nate Bargatze, concluded with major wins for The Studio (Best Comedy), The Pitt (Best Drama), and Adolescence (Best Limited Series). The Studio emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home 13 Emmys. The full list of winners for the 77th Emmy Awards had been released earlier.
