New Work from the Author of Hermione and Draco’s Forbidden Love: Alchemised Fantasy Novel Adaptation Rights Acquired

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Legendary Studios has purchased the adaptation rights to the fantasy novel Alchemised by SenLinYu in a seven-figure deal. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Legendary paid at least $3 million for the book.

In a statement, SenLinYu said: “I’m honored by Legendary’s extraordinary enthusiasm for this project, and I can’t wait to see the world of Palladia brought to life.”

Alchemised follows an alchemist and healer named Helen Marino, who may hold long-forgotten secrets within her mind. She is sent to a necromancer to help recover her lost memories.

The author is no stranger to Harry Potter fans, having written Dramione stories about the forbidden romance between Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy. She is best known for Manacled, which blends the Harry Potter universe with The Handmaid’s Tale, and has amassed over 10 million reads on the AO3 platform.

SenLinYu, who says she began writing on the “Notes” app on her phone after putting her child to bed, has also written stories about Ben Solo and Rey from the Star Wars universe. Her works have been read more than 20 million times in total.

This is not the first time a fanfiction book has transformed into original material for Hollywood adaptation. E. L. James famously turned her Twilight-inspired text into the erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey.

Alchemised will be published in two weeks.
