Michael Caine Comes Out of Retirement for The Last Witch Hunter 2

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Michael Caine, at the age of 92, is coming out of retirement to join Vin Diesel in Lionsgate’s sequel to The Last Witch Hunter. If the deal is signed, Caine will reprise the role of Father Dolan.
The first installment of The Last Witch Hunter received many negative reviews, and although it was produced with a budget of $90 million, it grossed less than $150 million. However, Lionsgate says the title was revived on digital platforms and home entertainment, paving the way for a sequel a decade later.
Caine, who has a close friendship with Diesel, had announced his retirement two years before the release of The Great Escaper at the age of 90. At that time, he said: “I keep telling myself I’m going to retire. Well, I am now. I thought I’d made a film that got very good reviews and I played the lead in it. The only roles I’m going to get now are old men of 90. Or maybe 85. So I thought, maybe I’ll bow out with all this acclaim. I’ve got good reviews. What more can I do to go beyond this? I had fun acting in that film and I thought, why not say goodbye now?”
In addition to playing Dominic Toretto in Fast and Furious, Diesel has appeared as Richard B. Riddick in three Riddick films, as Xander Cage in several installments of the XXX franchise, and as the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and two Avengers movies.
