Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2025: Bryan Cranston wins his seventh Emmy; The Penguin takes Best Makeup

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, winners on the first night of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, included Julianne Nicholson for Hacks, Bryan Cranston for The Studio, Shawn Hatosy for The Pitt, and Merritt Wever for Severance.

Rebel Ridge won Best Television Movie, Arcane took Best Animation, and The Penguin dominated in categories including hairstyling, costume design, prosthetic makeup, visual effects, sound editing, and sound mixing. The acclaimed Andor series from the Star Wars universe earned awards in costume design, production design, picture editing, and visual effects.

Apple TV+’s The Studio led with nine awards, followed by HBO Max’s The Penguin with eight, Apple’s Severance with six, Disney+’s Andor, Netflix’s Arcane, and Love, Death + Robots with four each. Prime Video’s The Boys and Netflix’s Bridgerton collected three, while HBO Max’s The Pitt and Netflix’s Adolescence won two apiece.

Comedian Desi Lydic of The Daily Show, who won Best Short-Form Comedy Actor, joked that she had watched “too much Fox News” in preparation for her Emmy win, before thanking the “deep state” and the Television Academy. Another humorous moment came when Robbie Hoffman from Hacks was seen vaping just before the winner for cinematography was announced.

Forty-nine additional Creative Arts Emmys in categories such as writing, casting, makeup, and picture editing will be handed out Sunday night. The ceremony will not be broadcast live but will air September 13 on FXX.
