First trailer for Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first teaser for Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother has been released ahead of its Venice Film Festival premiere. Described as an “anti-action” film with a slow rhythm, Father Mother Sister Brother marks Jarmusch’s first feature in five years and was not accepted into the Cannes lineup.
The film tells three separate stories about relationships between adult children and their parents: the “Father” segment is set in the northeastern United States, “Mother” takes place in Ireland, and “Sister Brother” unfolds in Paris. The cast includes Adam Driver, Cate Blanchett, Tom Waits, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Indya Moore, and Luc Sabat.
Jarmusch previously said: “The film we’re preparing to shoot later this year, I think maybe it won’t have any music. It’s a very delicate film; very quiet. And I feel music could push it too much in one direction—it’s both funny and sad, woven together in a way. I don’t know if there will be any music added to emphasize other aspects. So far, it hasn’t needed it.”
Driver, who starred in Jarmusch’s Paterson and The Dead Don’t Die, also appeared this year in Megalopolis at Cannes.
MUBI will release Father Mother Sister Brother in the U.S. on December 24.
