The Wizard of the Kremlin: First Official Look at Jude Law as Vladimir Putin

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first official image of Jude Law in The Wizard of the Kremlin, directed by Olivier Assayas, has been unveiled. The 52-year-old actor, known for The Holiday and Fantastic Beasts, plays Russian President Vladimir Putin in the film, which will premiere next Sunday at the Venice Film Festival.
Set in early 1990s Russia, the story explores the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union. In a new world promising freedom while grappling with chaos, a young artist named Vadim Baranov, who has turned to producing television, unexpectedly becomes an advisor to Vladimir Putin, a former KGB (FSB) officer.
The cast also includes Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander, Zach Galifianakis, and Tom Sturridge. The Wizard of the Kremlin is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Giuliano da Empoli.
Assayas told Variety that Putin’s rise to power in Russia has never been told with the same “precision and accuracy” as in da Empoli’s book.
