First Look at Kate Winslet and Toni Collette in Goodbye June

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Netflix has unveiled Goodbye June, announcing that Kate Winslet’s directorial debut will premiere in theaters in the U.S. and the U.K. on December 12, before streaming worldwide on December 24.

The screenplay for Goodbye June was written by Winslet’s son, Joe Anders, and tells a story set in modern-day England about a group of siblings who must put aside their differences and come together after facing a crisis. The cast also includes Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Helen Mirren, Stephen Merchant, Jeremy Swift, and Reza Jaffrey.

Kate Solomon serves as a producer alongside Winslet. In recent years, Winslet has appeared in the film Lee and the series The Regime, and will return to theaters this December in James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The Titanic and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind actress told CBS’s 60 Minutes last year that despite her many awards, she still struggles with self-doubt: “When I was making Lee, I would sit there thinking: ‘This is ridiculous… I can think of at least five other brilliant actresses who could play this role better than me. Much better.’ And I would often turn to someone on set and say: ‘They must have read my name off the cast list by mistake. Believe me, they didn’t mean for me to be here.’”
