Iranian Film and Animation “Daughter of the Dandelions” at Seoul Children’s Film Festival

The Seoul International Children’s Film Festival has invited two short films from Iran to participate in this cinematic event.

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the short film Daughter of the Dandelions, written and directed by Azadeh Masihzadeh and produced by Razieh Gholami, has been selected to compete in the International Short Films Competition at the 13th Seoul International Children’s Film Festival (SICFF).

Daughter of the Dandelions is being screened at this prestigious event and will be evaluated by the jury alongside other outstanding films from around the world.

The film tells the story of a young girl who, despite gender barriers, enters the male-dominated world of football and, through her perseverance on the field, disrupts the balance of power. With a metaphorical approach to the conflict between truth and falsehood, the film depicts the honesty of the younger generation and their resistance in the face of power. Tara Soroush, Benyam Afrangheh, and Abdollah Bahadori star in the film.

Additionally, the animated short On the Clouds, directed by Mehdi Barghzadegan, will also be screened in the “Cine Kids” section of the festival.

The synopsis for this animation reads: A cautious kite-flyer avoids high altitudes to stay safe, but leads a lonely and uneventful life. When a storm snaps his kite string, he is carried into the sky and discovers that the joy of truly flying is worth the risk of getting hurt.

The Seoul International Children’s Film Festival is one of Asia’s most prestigious cinematic events for children’s films and will be held from September 10 to 17, 2025 (corresponding to Shahrivar 19 to 26, 1404 in the Iranian calendar) in South Korea.
