“Gachiakuta” and “The Rose of Versailles” Among Nominees for the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, “Gachiakuta,” “The Rose of Versailles,” and “The Summer Hikaru Died” are among the nominees for the 2026 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. This event is the largest global celebration honoring excellence in Japanese animation, with winners set to be announced by celebrity presenters such as Asuka Saito, Dana, RZA, and others during the ceremony on May 23.

The 10th edition of the awards spans a wide range of categories, including Best Continuing Series, Best Opening Sequence, Best Action, and more. Nominees for Anime of the Year include Season 2 of “Dan Da Dan,” “Gachiakuta,” “My Hero Academia,” “Takopi’s Original Sin,” Season 2 of “The Apothecary Diaries,” and “The Summer Hikaru Died.” Film of the Year nominees include “100 Meters,” “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc,” “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle,” “Mononoke the Movie: Chapter II — Ashes of Rage,” “Scarlet,” and “The Rose of Versailles.”

Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, said in a statement:
“The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are a global celebration where fans share their love and appreciation with the creators of their favorite works. This year’s nominee list includes nearly 50 unique series and films, all selected by fans as the most beloved titles of the past year. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Anime Awards, we also honor nominees from the past decade, including more than 110 animation studios that have produced nearly 290 unique series and films, and over 220 voice actors who have brought beloved characters to life.”

Additional presenters will include Enako, Hana Bang, Kasumi Arimura, Mitorizu, Nanase Nishino, Nyvi Estephan, Rashmika Mandanna, Snitchery, and Winston Duke. This year’s ceremony will also feature several musical tribute performances dedicated to anime, including performances by Dean Fujioka and the rock band Porno Graffitti. Hiroki Totoki, President and CEO of Sony, will deliver the opening remarks, while voice actress Sally Amaki and popular personality Jon Kabira will serve as hosts.
