According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Jared Harris has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film What Happens at Night, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. Production on the project has officially commenced in Prague.
Written by Peter Marber and adapted from the novel by Peter Cameron, the film follows an American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a child. While staying at a grand hotel, they encounter several mysterious figures, including a singer, a corrupt businessman, and a faith healer. As they prepare to return home, they find their surroundings, their lives, and their marriage increasingly destabilized. The cast also features Patricia Clarkson and Mads Mikkelsen.
Four-time Oscar nominee Rodrigo Prieto serves as the cinematographer, marking another collaboration with Scorsese following Killers of the Flower Moon. This film also represents the seventh collaboration between DiCaprio and Scorsese. Lawrence previously worked with Apple on Causeway and Bread & Roses and has the mystery film The Wives currently in development.
Jared Harris, widely regarded as one of Britain’s finest stage and screen actors, rose to prominence in the 1990s with I Shot Andy Warhol and later portrayed John Lennon in Two of Us. His notable credits include Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Lincoln (2012), and the acclaimed series The Crown, Mad Men, and Chernobyl.
