Aimee Lou Wood Joins New “Jane Eyre” Series

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Aimee Lou Wood—star of The White Lotus and Sex Education—has joined a new television adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel, Jane Eyre.
The Emmy-nominated actress is set to play the titular role in the series, which is being written by WGA winner Miriam Battye (Succession).
Jane Eyre follows the journey of an orphaned girl seeking love, independence, and social equality in 19th-century England. Ahead of its time, the work explores complex themes of social class, gender, religion, and feminism. While Wood is confirmed for the lead, the role of Mr. Rochester, the brooding master of Thornfield Hall, has yet to be cast.
The novel has inspired numerous adaptations over the decades, including the 2006 miniseries starring Ruth Wilson and feature films starring Mia Wasikowska (2011) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (1996). Notably, 2027 will mark the 180th anniversary of the novel’s original publication.
The news comes as interest in the Brontë sisters remains high; Wuthering Heights, written by Charlotte’s sister Emily, was recently adapted into a film starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
Following her Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe nominations for the third season of The White Lotus, Wood has also joined the cast of Anxious People alongside Angelina Jolie. Furthermore, she was recently selected to portray Pattie Boyd, photographer and wife of George Harrison, in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics.
Miriam Battye recently wrote the feature Extra Geography, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. She also serves as the writer and executive producer for the upcoming Apple and A24 dramedy The Husbands, starring Juno Temple.
