Trump: Inviting Bill Maher to the White House Was a Waste of Time

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, nearly a year after inviting Donald Trump to the White House, he has now called comedian Bill Maher an “idiot.” The host of Real Time with Bill Maher had previously faced a wave of backlash for the meeting after years of criticizing Trump.

The U.S. president appears angered by Maher’s jokes on Friday night’s episode, including a bizarre prediction that China would ban hockey in Canada. Writing on Truth Social, Trump stated: “Sometimes in life you waste time! Bill Maher, a television host, asked through a mutual friend to have dinner with me, and I agreed. He came to the famed Oval Office very different from what I had imagined. He was extremely nervous, lacked the confidence to relax, and immediately, within seconds, asked for a vodka tonic. He told me, ‘I’ve never felt this way before, to be honest I’m scared.’ In a way, it was endearing! In any event, we had a good dinner, quick and easy, and he seemed like a nice guy. On his first show after that dinner, he spoke very respectfully about our meeting — and after everything I’ve done to pull our country out of ‘oblivion,’ why shouldn’t he?”

Trump continued: “In any case, inviting this idiot to the White House was a waste of time. Last night, after I explained what a disaster Canada’s ‘leaders’ are dealing with and how that country has ‘ripped off’ the United States for years on tariffs (but not anymore!), I joked in a message: ‘The first thing China does is cancel all of Canada’s ice hockey games and the Stanley Cup forever.’”

He went on to say that no one would seriously make such a “stupid statement”: “Fortunately, his television ratings are so low that no one hears about these comments, which amount to fake news. He’s no different from Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, or Stephen Colbert — though I must admit, he’s slightly more talented!”

Trump concluded by writing that Maher suffers from “a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS), and nothing can be done to cure this serious illness.”

Maher visited the White House last April with coordination from Kid Rock, a Trump supporter. After facing criticism, Maher responded: “They say he’s Hitler. He’s not. This kind of criticism is foolish and unproductive.”
