Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Message to Neo-Nazis: “This Is a War With No Winners”
According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose father was a member of the Nazi Party, spoke candidly about his family history in a new interview with CNN. When asked by the host what message he would send to those who idolize Hitler or the Nazis today, the 78-year-old actor paused for a moment before giving a clear and direct answer.
The Terminator star said: “There’s only one thing I can tell you. If anyone looks up to the Nazis as role models, it means something terrible. Because we’ve seen that story before, we’ve lived through it, and we’ve seen the outcome. There will be no winners. It’s that simple. And in my view, it’s a path we should never take.”
Schwarzenegger’s father was an active member of the Nazi Party until he was wounded in the Battle of Leningrad in 1943. When Schwarzenegger became governor of California in 2003, his family’s history sparked intense public discussion.
He went on to list some of the problems currently facing the United States, claiming that true patriots must work to solve them or risk seeing the country drift toward neo-Nazism: “We must make sure that both parties — whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican — come together to decide what’s truly best for the American people.”
Schwarzenegger’s comments came after Democrat Graham Plattner faced backlash when photos of his Nazi-themed tattoos resurfaced. Plattner claimed he was unaware of their meaning and got them nearly two decades ago while in Croatia. Just two weeks earlier, leaked Telegram messages from a group called Young Republicans had sparked further public concern.
A few years ago, Schwarzenegger also spoke out after the U.S. Capitol riots, saying: “The windows of the Capitol were shattered. But the mob didn’t just break the glass of a building — they shattered the ideals we took for granted. They didn’t just break down the doors of American democracy — they trampled on the very beliefs this country was built upon.”
