The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender Will Not Receive a Theatrical Release

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Paramount and Nickelodeon’s The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will bypass cinemas and be released directly on the streaming platform Paramount+. The Hollywood Reporter reports that following a shift in Paramount’s strategy after its merger with Skydance, the film will no longer receive a theatrical release and is now scheduled to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in October 2026.
The animated series Avatar: Seven Havens is another production from Avatar Studios that will stream on Paramount+. The studio was founded in 2021 to expand the worlds of Avatar and The Legend of Korra.
Steven Yeun will voice Zuko, Dave Bautista will voice a villainous character, Eric Nam will voice Aang, Dante Basco will voice Toph, Jessica Matten will voice Katara, and Roman Zaragoza will voice Sokka. Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Dee Bradley Baker, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan are also among the voice cast of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.
The film is based on the series Avatar: The Last Airbender, created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and is directed by Lauren Montgomery, Steve Ahn, and William Mata. Jeremy Zuckerman returns as composer for both The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Seven Havens.
Avatar: The Last Airbender originally aired from 2005 to 2008 and depicted a world where people can bend the four elements—water, air, earth, and fire. Netflix has adapted the Peabody-, Emmy-, and Annie Award–winning series into a live-action version, with its second season set to premiere in 2026.
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will premiere on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026.
