George R.R. Martin says that beyond House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, several sequels and prequels to Game of Thrones are in development

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, one day after HBO announced that it would produce Season 2 of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and Season 4 of “House of the Dragon,” George R.R. Martin confirmed that several other Game of Thrones spin-off series are currently in development — some of which count as sequels.
Speaking at an event, Martin said:
“Besides A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon, other Game of Thrones spin-off projects are in development. Most of them are prequels. There are several projects in the works — five or six series; and I’m not writing them alone, I’m collaborating with other people. Yes, some of them are sequels.”
Both spin-offs, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and “House of the Dragon,” are prequels and take viewers roughly a century back before the events of Game of Thrones. Martin previously stated that a series about Aegon the Conqueror, set 300 years before Game of Thrones, is also in development. Other projects focused on Nymeria, the warrior queen, and “Ten Thousand Ships” were cancelled by HBO.
Casey Bloys, HBO’s network chief, said at a conference last fall that the Jon Snow spin-off starring Kit Harington was not in development, but expressed hope that the project might get another chance in the future: “Maybe we’ll try again.”
Many of Martin’s fans had hoped for a spin-off centered on Arya Stark, starring Maisie Williams. Last December, Martin revealed that he had met with Williams: “I met Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and we talked about — well, I’d rather not say what we talked about, I don’t want to jinx anything. But it could be a lot of fun.”
HBO spent nearly $30 million producing the pilot of “The Long Night” starring Naomi Watts, but the project ultimately never became a full season.
