Daniel Radcliffe’s Letter to the New Harry Potter Series Actor: “I Hope You Have a Great Time”

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Daniel Radcliffe revealed in a new interview with ABC that he has sent a letter to Dominic McLoughlin, the actor playing Harry Potter in the television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels Harry Potter.
Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry Potter in eight films from 2001 to 2011, says: “I’m not saying that anyone who’s going to play Harry needs to reach out to me, but I know a few people working on the series. I sent Dominic a letter, and he wrote me a very lovely note in return.”
He adds that he didn’t want to be “just a spectator in these kids’ lives,” and wrote to McLoughlin: “I hope you have a great time — even more than I did. I had a great time, but I hope you enjoy it even more.”
Radcliffe continues: “And honestly, when I see pictures of him and the other kids, I just want to give them a hug. They look so young. I see them and think: ‘It’s unbelievable I did all that at that age.’ But at the same time, it’s very sweet, and I hope they have a wonderful time.”
It was previously announced that Dominic McLoughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will play Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley respectively, succeeding Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. John Lithgow, the Olivier Award–winning actor, will portray Albus Dumbledore; Oscar nominee Janet McTeer plays Minerva McGonagall; I May Destroy You star Papa Essiedu appears as Severus Snape; Shaun of the Dead actor Nick Frost plays Rubeus Hagrid; and Bertie Carvel, the Tony and Olivier Award–winning actor from The Crown, will portray Cornelius Fudge.
Additionally, Laux Pratt will play Draco Malfoy; Luke Tallon, known from the stage play Hamlet, will appear as Quirinus Quirrell, the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor in Season 1; BAFTA winner Paul Whitehouse plays Argus Filch, the Hogwarts caretaker; Rory Willmott appears as Neville Longbottom; Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley; Louise Breasley as Madam Rolanda Hooch; and Anton Lesser portrays Garrick Ollivander.
The Harry Potter series, written by Francesca Gardiner, will premiere on HBO Max in 2027.
