George Clooney Says He’s “Proud” of the Louvre Museum Thieves

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, George Clooney joked about the recent Louvre Museum heist during the screening of his new film Jay Kelly at the AFI Fest last Thursday. Clooney said he couldn’t help but think of Ocean’s 11 after hearing about the robbery, in which four thieves stole eight pieces valued at over $100 million from the Louvre last Sunday.

He quipped: “If you’re a professional thief like me, you can’t help but be proud of those guys.”

Clooney added that the infamous heist might even inspire Ocean’s 14: “I think we should rob the Louvre.” He described the daylight robbery as “insane,” adding, “I’d love to know if they catch these guys. They seem to have pulled off quite an escape.”

Clooney previously confirmed that Ocean’s 14, starring Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, and Matt Damon, is currently in development and will begin filming in 2026. The sequel will be directed by David Leitch, known for Bullet Train and John Wick.

In another interview, Clooney said his children have a “better life” in France than in the U.S.: “We live on a farm in France. I’ve spent much of my life on a farm, though as a kid I hated the idea of it. But now I think about them — they’re not buried in their iPads, you know? They have dinner with adults, carry their plates. It’s a much better life.”

Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach, will be released in theaters on November 14 and will stream on Netflix starting December 5.
