Writer and Director of Call of Duty Movie Announced

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Paramount Studios, after acquiring the adaptation rights to Call of Duty—one of the best-selling video game franchises in history—has selected two veteran filmmakers to produce and write the film. Deadline reports that Taylor Sheridan, creator of the series Yellowstone, and Peter Berg, director of Battleship, will serve as producers for the Call of Duty feature film.

Paramount’s goal in producing the film is to celebrate video game fans and expand the franchise’s audience. Berg and Sheridan will co-write the screenplay, with Berg directing the movie.

Both Sheridan and Berg grew up in Texas and have previously collaborated on projects such as Hell or High Water, which was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Activision announced in 2015 that a Call of Duty film was in development, but in the following years prioritized other projects. Berg’s credits include Lone Survivor, while Sheridan worked on the series Lionnes, giving both of them experience relevant to the Call of Duty genre.

Call of Duty is one of the most popular video games of all time and held the title of the best-selling game in the United States for 16 consecutive years. The franchise has millions of players worldwide and has sold over 500 million copies.

Sheridan has created several series for Paramount, including Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Landman, and recently signed a new deal with NBCUniversal. He has multiple projects in development, the latest being F.A.S.T starring Brendan Sklenner and directed by Ben Richardson, scheduled for release in spring 2027.
