Viewers Stunned by Mia Goth’s Dual Role in Frankenstein

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, viewers of Frankenstein were astonished to discover that one of the film’s stars plays a dual role. Directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, the film premiered last Friday on Netflix.
Mia Goth, best known for Pearl and MaXXXine, plays two roles in Frankenstein. For much of the movie, she portrays Lady Elizabeth Harlander, the fiancée of William, Victor Frankenstein’s brother. But some eagle-eyed viewers have noticed that Goth also appears in flashback scenes as Frankenstein’s mother.
One viewer wrote on X:
“Are you kidding me? I’ve seen the movie three times — twice in theaters and once at home — and I had no idea she played the mother too.”
Others said they were aware Goth had taken on two roles but didn’t recognize her in the second one. In the film, Goth wears red in one role and green in the other.
Isaac had previously revealed Goth’s dual performance in an interview with The Independent:
“The fact that the only woman in [Frankenstein’s] life is his mother — you know, whether the two characters actually resembled each other or not, we can’t be sure, because it’s told from his perspective. I don’t think they really did. But in Frankenstein’s mind, they’re the same.”
Before Jacob Elordi joined the project, Andrew Garfield was set to play the Creature, but the Hollywood actors’ strike forced the Spider-Man star to step away from the film.
