Trump Calls for Cancellation of “Freedom 250” Concert Series, Slams “Overpriced Third-Rate Artists”

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, After five of the nine performers announced for the “Freedom 250” concert series withdrew within 48 hours of the events being unveiled, President Donald Trump declared that the concerts should be canceled.

Writing on Truth Social Saturday evening, Trump said: “Instead of using overpriced singers that nobody wants to listen to, whose music is boring and who do nothing but complain, we should hold a giant Make America Great Again rally to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary.”

Trump did not acknowledge that the Freedom 250 organization — which he founded — was responsible for organizing the concert series and booking the performers. At least two artists on the lineup, however, including Vanilla Ice and Fab Morvan, have continued to support their participation in the events.

It marked Trump’s second post of the day regarding the Freedom 250 concerts. Earlier, he had suggested that the “Great American State Fair,” of which the concerts are a part, should open with a political rally led by himself.

“I hear some of the entertainers are having second thoughts about performing,” Trump wrote in his first post. He then boasted that perhaps “the biggest draw in the world” — himself — could replace the “high-priced, third-rate entertainers” and bring crowds together with a major speech.

In his follow-up message, Trump did not clarify whether he wanted the entire concert series canceled or only those performances affected by artist withdrawals. He then linked the issue to legal disputes surrounding the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and judges who have ruled against him, writing: “Cancel it, just like I canceled my participation in the Kennedy Center.”

Trump went on to criticize federal judges once again, claiming their decisions would leave the Kennedy Center facing financial difficulties and even structural decline.

In another post, he emphasized that he has little interest in artists who “receive enormous paychecks but remain unhappy,” adding that he prefers to be around “successful, smart winners.” Trump said he had instructed his representatives to explore the possibility of holding an “America Is Back” rally in Washington, an event to which, he said, only “true patriots” would be invited.

At first, it was unclear when Trump intended to hold such a gathering. However, according to The Washington Post, citing Freedom 250 adviser Daniel Alvarez, the president plans to speak at the opening ceremony of the Great American State Fair on June 24.

“As the visionary behind the Great American State Fair, President Trump will personally open this historic celebration marking America’s 250th birthday,” Alvarez said.

If Trump does indeed become the central attraction of the event, it could reinforce concerns among performers who have withdrawn from the concerts — concerns that Freedom 250 may not be as nonpartisan as originally advertised.

The developments come amid a wave of artist withdrawals from the concert series in recent days. Freedom 250, a nonprofit organization founded by Trump, is responsible for coordinating events related to the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Richard Grenell, a close Trump ally and former Kennedy Center chairman, also responded to the artists who pulled out. After country singer Martina McBride withdrew, Grenell wrote on social media: “You have always been woke.”

Of the nine artists originally announced for the series, five have now withdrawn: Morris Day, Bret Michaels, Martina McBride, Young MC, and Commodores. Several of them said they had been given misleading information about the nature of the events or had become concerned that the concerts were evolving into politically divisive gatherings.

By contrast, Vanilla Ice and Fab Morvan have reaffirmed their intention to perform. In an interview with TMZ, Vanilla Ice remarked: “I don’t even vote, so I don’t care. I’d perform for Putin or in Iran — it makes no difference to me.”

Should Trump become the headline attraction at the Great American State Fair, the event would follow another high-profile spectacle he reportedly hopes to stage in June: a UFC event on the White House grounds coinciding with his 80th birthday on June 14.
