Trailer for Minions & Monsters Released

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, the Minions are back with more mischief in the Super Bowl trailer for the latest installment of the franchise. During the sporting event, a teaser confirmed that the new animated film will be titled Minions & Monsters.
The franchise began with Despicable Me in 2010, introducing the character Gru, voiced by Steve Carell. Pierre Coffin, who directed the first three Despicable Me films and the Minions spin-off, returns to direct Minions & Monsters, based on a screenplay by Brian Lynch. Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination, will serve as one of the producers alongside Bill Ryan.
The Minions were last seen on the big screen in 2024 with Despicable Me 4, which followed the second spin-off of the characters, Minions: The Rise of Gru, released in 2022. To date, the global box office for the Despicable Me and Minions films has approached $5 billion.
In a 2024 interview coinciding with the release of Despicable Me 4, director Chris Renaud told The Hollywood Reporter that the franchise team was exploring potential new installments for the characters.
Renaud previously stated: “There are always conversations like this about what can be done and how far the characters can be taken. At the moment, no specific film is planned, mainly because we’ve just finished this one, but there’s always discussion about where else they can go and what changes can be made. How can we keep the excitement and freshness? We’ll see what happens.”
Universal Pictures will release Minions & Monsters on July 1.
