Sylvester Stallone: I Wanted to Make a Rambo Prequel Using AI

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Sylvester Stallone has revealed that he once intended to direct a Rambo prequel and was willing to use artificial intelligence to de-age himself. In two new interviews with The Playlist and Screen Rant, Stallone discussed his upcoming memoir, shared thoughts on the biopic I Play Rocky directed by Peter Farrelly, and explained his unusual idea for Rambo.
Noah Centineo is set to play Stallone in I Play Rocky, but the veteran actor says he initially suggested that AI could be used to de-age him for the role: “Everyone thought I was crazy. AI is sophisticated enough to take you back to Saigon [Vietnam] and show this character at 18, essentially using the same images. So it shouldn’t be that hard.”
He added that reprising an iconic role is extremely challenging for any actor, but Centineo might deliver a “brilliant” performance: “Everyone loved the first film, but at the same time you always have to fight against that prejudice.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Stallone elaborated on his vision for the Rambo prequel: “I wanted Rambo to be the most likable kid in school, with the best grades, king of the dance, that kind of thing. Then he goes to Vietnam thinking it’ll be a three-week in-and-out mission. Instead, he’s tortured, imprisoned, his friends are killed, and one tragedy after another unfolds in Saigon.”
Stallone admitted he had no involvement in I Play Rocky: “When I heard about it, I was surprised. I have nothing to do with it.”
Another of his films, Cliffhanger, is also being remade without his participation. At 79, Stallone is set to return for Season 4 of Paramount+’s Tulsa King.
