Sydney Sweeney Joins Remake of That Man From Rio

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Sydney Sweeney has joined a new film just days after the premiere of Christy at the American Film Foundation Festival. Deadline reports that Apple is producing That Man From Rio, an adventure-comedy directed by Justin Lin.
The film is a modern adaptation of the 1964 French movie of the same name. Lin will produce through Perfect Storm Entertainment, alongside Oscar-nominated Kevin Walsh, with the screenplay by Chase Palmer.

In the original film, Jean-Paul Belmondo played a young soldier attempting to rescue his girlfriend, played by Françoise Dorléac, after she is kidnapped in Rio de Janeiro. The 1964 classic inspired many filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, and influenced the creation of Indiana Jones.
Apple Original Films and Sweeney previously collaborated on the thriller Echo Valley starring Julianne Moore. Walsh, who worked on Echo Valley, also produced Being Heumann directed by Oscar-winner Sean Heeeder, The Instigators, and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.
Sweeney currently has multiple projects in development, including Gundam, Split Fiction, Barbarella, I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, Scandalous, and OutRun, and she recently returned to set for season 3 of Euphoria.
