Second Official Trailer for Black Phone 2

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Universal has released a new trailer for Black Phone 2, starring Ethan Hawke. The latest trailer for the R-rated film shows the return of Hawke’s character, the Grabber, after coming back to life. The movie is a sequel to The Black Phone, directed by Scott Derrickson and written by C. Robert Cargill, which was released in the summer of 2022 and grossed $161 million worldwide.

The first installment followed a 13-year-old boy named Finney, who, after being abducted by a child killer and locked in a basement, began receiving calls from the murderer’s previous victims on a mysterious, disconnected phone. In Black Phone 2, Finney is now 17 and struggling with life after his captivity. Gwen, played by Madeleine McGraw, begins to receive calls from the black phone in her nightmares, where she sees three boys being hunted in a winter camp.

Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke is joined in the sequel by Ariana Rivas, Demián Bichir, Miguel Mora, Mayson Thames, Mio Beattie, Graham Abbey, Madeleine McGraw, and BAFTA and Emmy winner Jeremy Davies.

The Black Phone, which earned an 81% critics’ score and 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, was adapted from the 2007 short story of the same name by Joe Hill.

Universal will release Black Phone 2 on October 17, 2025.
