“Scream 7” Projected for $60 Million Opening Weekend

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Paramount and Spyglass’s Scream 7 is eyeing a global opening of over $60 million in its debut weekend. This projection would place the seventh installment as the second-best opening in franchise history, following Scream VI, which starred Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera.

The sequel is expected to earn approximately $44.4 million across 50 international markets. Rival studios estimate that the domestic opening for Scream 7 will reach $40 million across more than 3,500 theaters. For comparison, many had predicted a $50 million opening for Wuthering Heights, which ultimately earned $37.5 million.

Neve Campbell, who had previously exited the franchise over a salary dispute, returns to the series following the firing of Melissa Barrera over her support for Palestine and the subsequent departure of Jenna Ortega. The cast also features Courteney Cox, Scott Foley, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Notably, Matthew Lillard, who played Stuart “Stu” Macher in the original 1996 Scream, has joined the cast of Scream 7. Newcomers to the franchise include Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Issa Germaine, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, and Mark Consuelos.

Since its inception in 1996, the Scream franchise has grossed $908 million worldwide. Scream VI, released two years ago, earned $168.9 million globally and broke the franchise record in the United States with a $108 million domestic haul.

Scream 7 is set to be released on February 27, 2026.
