Sarah Drew and Eric Johnson to Star in New Lifetime Film Inspired by “When I Said I Do”

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Sarah Drew and Eric Johnson have been cast as the lead actors in Lifetime’s new film, tentatively titled “When I Said I Do,” a project inspired by the song of the same name by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black.
The project was first introduced last month during Lifetime’s Upfronts presentation event.
According to the network, the film is scheduled to premiere on May 23 at 8 PM local time, as part of its spring romance lineup titled “Love of a Lifetime.”
Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black will not only serve as executive producers but will also appear in the film.
In the film, Sarah Drew plays Ali Corley, a search-and-rescue dog trainer who lost her husband during a mission and has since tried to rebuild her life.
Having devoted all her focus to her family and her high-risk profession, she has no interest in starting a new relationship—until she meets Sean Willis (played by Eric Johnson), a calm and dedicated rescue specialist.
As their relationship deepens, the two are forced to confront their past grief and fears, ultimately deciding whether they have the courage to choose love again.
Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black appear in the film as themselves, hosting a relationship podcast that plays a significant role in the emotional journey of the story’s characters.
Clint Black said:
“Lisa and I are very proud to bring our song to Lifetime and create a love story that we hope resonates with audiences. Our fans have followed our life together for years, and we’re happy to share a song that reflects the values and principles of our marriage.”
Previously, artists such as Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton have also collaborated with the network.
Mary J. Blige recently signed a deal with Lifetime to produce three films based on her songs. The first project, titled “Be Happy,” is based on her 1994 track and stars Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer, and Russell Hornsby. Additionally, Gabourey Sidibe made her directorial debut with this project.
“When I Said I Do” is produced by Caitlin Delaney of Magic Motion Media, in collaboration with ITV America Nashville and Happy Accidents.
Alongside Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black, Adam Reed (from ITV America), as well as Holly Hines and Eric Jarboe (from Happy Accidents), serve as executive producers.
The film is directed by Stefan Brogren and written by Bart Baker.
