Russell Brand’s Trial for Rape and Sexual Assault Postponed Until October

According to the CinemaDrame News Agency, Russell Brand’s trial for rape and sexual assault has been postponed until October. The comedian and actor was originally scheduled to stand trial on June 16 at Southwark Crown Court in London.
According to Sky News, the trial, which covers all seven charges brought against Brand over the past year, is now set to begin on October 12 and is expected to last approximately two months.
In April 2025, Brand was charged with rape, sexual assault, and inappropriate conduct involving four separate women; the incidents are alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2005. In December 2025, two additional charges—one for rape and one for sexual assault—were added relating to two other women in incidents reportedly occurring in 2009.
Brand has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any wrongdoing. He has been released on bail throughout the legal process. Following the announcement of the initial charges in April 2025, Brand stated on social media:
“When I was young and single, before I had a wife and family, I was foolish, foolish before living in the light of the Lord, a drug user and sex addict, and reckless. But I was never a rapist. I never engaged in non-consensual activity. I pray that by looking into my eyes, you can see this.”
The charges follow investigations conducted by The Sunday Times and Channel 4 in 2023. Those investigations prompted five women to come forward with allegations of “rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse” against Brand in the early 2010s.
