Rick Moranis Returns After Nearly Three Decades of Retirement: “I Had a Very Strange Feeling in ‘Spaceballs 2′”

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, after stepping away from acting for nearly 30 years, Rick Moranis finally returned in front of the camera last fall to reprise his memorable role as “Lord Dark Helmet” in the feature film “Spaceballs 2: A New One.” Returning to the acting scene, particularly reuniting with his former colleagues after nearly four decades, proved to be a truly unique and strange experience for the comedy star.

Speaking at Comic-Con, Moranis said: “I kept having to pinch myself; because when I looked at Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and George Wyner, and then saw the younger cast members on set, it hit me that 39 years ago when we made the first one, I was the same age as these kids—and now my own children have reached the age we were back then.”

The renowned actor added: “I felt like I was caught in a time warp. Nevertheless, when I put on the suit and placed the helmet on my head, to be honest, it felt very strange at first, but over time it started to feel really good and I truly loved it.”
