Popular Audiobook Narrator Cast as “Princess Donut” in “Dungeon Crawler Carl” Series

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the live-action television series Dungeon Crawler Carl, produced by Seth MacFarlane, has officially cast the voice actor for the key and beloved character “Princess Donut.” Jeff Hays, the renowned narrator and producer of the audiobook versions for all eight published books in the franchise, has been officially selected to voice Princess Donut in the Peacock streaming series adaptation.

For those unfamiliar with the story’s universe, Princess Donut is a snobbish, crown-wearing talking cat belonging to the ex-girlfriend of the main character, Carl. When an alien invasion wipes out most of Earth’s population, human survivors are forced to compete against one another and deadly monsters in a brutal underground reality TV show to earn their freedom. Amid the chaos, Carl—a former Coast Guard member—must ally with this high-maintenance show cat to survive against a sadistically unhinged AI, alien overlords, and fellow contestants in a lethal environment.

The casting of Jeff Hays was announced during Penguin Random House’s dedicated panel featuring author Matt Dinniman at San Diego Comic-Con. This marks the first major casting update since Peacock officially greenlit the project last month (though actor Seth Green had previously expressed interest in joining the series).

Chris Yost will serve as writer and showrunner. He will executive produce for Fuzzy Door alongside Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Rachel Hargreaves-Heale, while novel author Matt Dinniman joins the production team as co-executive producer. The adaptation is produced in association with Universal International Studios.

Matt Dinniman’s Dungeon Crawler Carl novel series—which has published eight of its planned ten volumes to date—has sold over 14 million copies across all formats. Furthermore, the audiobook editions narrated by Jeff Hays have achieved an astounding milestone of over 140 million hours listened on Audible.
